What colours !

I am busy working in the garden, vegetable garden and flowers borders all to be seen to.
When I came in for a welcome glass of water the colours of these delicious plums and nectarines just had to be photographed.
The blue and cream bowl add to their colour and make them look as good as they taste.

Now its back into the sunshine and work.

Kerjacob in flower - part two.

Yesterday we had more sunshine so I've taken more photographs of the garden.
I love the daisies they always make me feel happy.

The hazy gold of these flowers looks lovely with the house peeping through. I love the different heights in the garden.

The large plants that look like artichokes are called cardoons - I was given these plants from one of my friends before we left England. They are very happy here.

In the distance you can see the vegetable garden. It has wonderful views which we enjoy when taking a rest from working outside.
I planted a border of lavender, rosemary and thyme when we first planned the vegetable garden so when I brush against them they give off a wonderful perfume and of course the bees, butterflies and insects love them.

Kerjacob in flower.

On Saturday we had a lovely sunny day which was so good after quite a few grey days.
When I went outside the flowers in the pots and that grow in amongst the gravel path just looked so wonderful I had to go back in and get my camera.

The verbena started off in pots several years ago but has seeded itself into the gravel. I love it and so do the butterflies and all the other insects.
I think Mr P would rather it wasn't in the path but its only in the summer months and everybody else loves it so it will be staying !

The acer, which was a birthday present to me from a dear friend last year, is still in a pot as I lift it inside in the winter. Maybe next year it will go into the ground. It looks glorious against the blue agapanthus.

At lunchtime we often will sit on a bench and watch the butterflies searching out the nectar from the flowers whilst we eat our lunch. Mr P really does enjoy that.

Brittany is famed for its hydrangeas, the climate here is just what they like. The earth here keeps many of mine blue and purple, I don't need to add anything to the soil.

For Sale - I wish I could !!

When I was on the coast a few weeks ago I saw this fabulous car for sale. It didn't say the price and I know I couldn't buy it anyway but I can dream.

Isn't she just wonderful !

Water feature with watering cans !

A few weeks ago we helped out at an open garden day held by friends of ours who have a most wonderful garden and house in Gouarec.

Tea and homemade cakes were served in the sunshine and all profits were to go to help with the restoration of Abbaye Bon Repos .

Recently there has been a new water feature  added which links into the river at the bottom of the garden.

The watering cans had to be sourced from England as the handles on French watering cans go from front to back which of course wouldn't work !

Off to the coast !

Nets and rusty dragging chains at Le Dahouet.

Last Sunday we had more glorious sunshine so I went to the coast.
Mr P is in England at the moment so I thought I'd have a day out.

I went to one of my favourite places, Port de Dahouet and further up the coast to Pleneuf-Val-Andre where there was a troc.

Yacht coming into Pleneuf-Val-Andre.

The sea was an azure blue and this yacht was just coming into the bay at Pleneuf, I love the colour of the terracotta sails against the blue.

Lighthouse at Pleneuf.

After the bust troc it was a delight to walk along the port at Le Dahouet and sit in the warm sunshine eating an almond pastry.

Port de Dahouet.
At Dahouet they have spent many years renovating an old fishing boat. This year it is done and people can book to go out for a half a day or a full day sail.
The ship is called Pauline and she really is beautiful, I was lucky enough to be there when she sailed out of the port.

Pauline on her way out to sea.

Pauline in full sail.
There are lovely houses alongside of the port and this is the one I'd have if I could, I'd spend time by the coast and then come back to my hillside, I'd love both.

Before I drove home I just had to take these photographs of nets and floats.

The rust of the chains and the turquoise of the nets - wonderful.

Memory kitchen door.

Last Saturday morning there was a lot of rain, welcome for the garden, so I set to changing and updating all the cards and posters which give so many happy memories of people, places and things that I love.

Recently Gill, my dearest friend in the UK, sent me a letter but it was written on a selection of postcards of classic Penguin book covers.

One of my favourite galleries, Ruthin Craft Centre, near where we lived always has wonderful publicity and they also have wonderful exhibitions.

I miss going there, I miss being able to see the quality of work they have on exhibition. Having the publicity helps keep me in touch with what's on show.

The door is in the kitchen and as I sit at my big table I will often look up and it always brings a smile.

Maybe you have a memory door or wall ?

A card for Claudine.

Last week a French friend asked me if I would make a special card for one of her friends who is in the same choir as her. Claudine was having a party to celebrate her birthday and each guest was to take along a song of their choice for her. Claudine loves English and so the song was an English one and the envelope was written in English too.

My  friend was delighted with the card I'd made and so was Claudine.

A joy of a brocante.

What a bumpy ride this would have been !

In a  little village near to us called Gouarec there is a lovely little brocante.

The shop is jammed packed full of treasures and upstairs the rooms are just as they were.

All ready for Christmas.

Outside at the back is a little yard, again full of treasures.

I adore old linen and use it on our bed - its a delight to get into.

The shop is only open at weekends but its well worth the visit.

When I was last there I met an Australian lady who was in seventh heaven.

She had three parcels all ready to go back home with her on the plane, what a good time she'll have unpacking her precious finds and remembering where she bought them.
