Sunday treasures in the sunshine.

On Sunday I was up in good time, even though I'd lost an hour of sleep !
I was up and off to a brocante sale - I love going to them in the hope of finding some treasures.
I ended up with some special things.
So home I drove in the sunshine with a big smile on my face, looking forward to showing Mr P what I'd found.

This lovely little chair already looking at home in the lounge.

A beautiful little porcelain dish with such a handsome fish.

I saw these crystal applique wall lights and went back to look at them twice - they were just so perfect .
SO --- they just had to come home with me.

A pair of crystal applique wall lights.

They are just beautiful !

Tiny porcelain box with flowers.

Just such a pretty lidded box.

This cat stands on a marble base.

The original statue is in the Louvre.

So now you can see why I came home with such a smile on my face !
When I came down early this morning ( ready to go out and plant two rows of potatoes )
I couldn't resist having a quiet moment sitting on my new chair and looking at the new room.

Working on new themes- inspired by Venice.

I have started to do some work towards an exhibition later this year.
Its not an easy task as ideas work in the head - sometimes - but of course then they have to be realised.

These first two pieces are cards that I've been making based on a trip to Venice some years ago.
The work below comes from the same inspiration  but working in a different way.
I very much enjoy experimenting and using mixed media.

I've made a start and so now will continue the hard process of working, working, working until the ideas come out the way I see them in my head.
No easy task BUT the start has been made so I can only go forward.

Tortue, Pie and Samuel take the sun.

We are having some lovely sunny weather at the moment  which we are all enjoying.
On the coast they are wrapped in heavy fog but not here at Kerjacob !

The vegetable garden is half dug over and soon the planting will begin.

The cats love being where we are and like me also love the sunshine.

As they enjoyed the warmth it was a good chance to take some photographs.

Honeysuckle wreaths.

Last week when I was in the garden I had to cut back the honeysuckle which grows up a pyramid in one of the borders.

The pieces that I'd cut had turned and twined on themselves so beautifully that I couldn't throw them away.
So........

I decided to make them into two wreaths.
They looked so lovely next to some daffodils that the wind had blown over.

They are still outside on the bench and of course their leaves are dying back but they still look good.

Samuel, one of our three cats decided he wanted to be in the photographs and as his eyes match the blue of the material and he's such a lovely natured cat and he was born here in Kerjacob, why not !?

Sunday 4 March 2012

A gardening day at Kerjacob.

This last week has had some wonderful weather.
So the pull of the garden was just too much to resist.

The cutting back of shrubs and the tidying of borders began.

What delights lay in store for me.
The helebores are just beautiful now.
I cut away their old leaves which made them look even better.
Their pretty flowers shown off to perfection with new green leaves just beginning to open.

In the borders the tiny daffodils are coming out and the pulmonaria just lovely with their tiny blue, pink, and purple flowers.

In the banks of the lanes where we live the primroses are in full flower and in the garden too.

The bees and butterflies are back and enjoying visiting the flowers for their pollen.

The sun was so warm whilst I worked that I was able to feel the warmth on my skin as the layers came off. I just love the sun and the Spring so much.
It makes you feel SO good.

I just love this particular hellebore with its subtle colouring .

Whilst I worked on the flower beds Mr P was starting to dig over the vegetable garden.
The leeks are still doing well but soon it will be time to start to plant potatoes, onions and garlic.
